Visit to Tel Aviv

tel-aviv
This morning, several Insight for Living staff spent the morning exploring Tel Aviv. We found an open air market and street art fair. So fun…what a cultural feast for the eyes!

We had to find something to do to keep ourselves busy while we anxiously awaited the arrival of our new friends to Israel! We have been busy praying for all the weary travelers as we set off on the journey of a lifetime!

Egyptian Ruins in Joppa

Our hotel in Tel Aviv sits near ancient Joppa (think Jonah and Peter). In fact, a short walk down the beach will take you there. The Egyptians’ ancient rubble in Joppa reminds me that foreign powers all wanted to control Israel.

The Holy Land was the crossroads for international imperialism, war, and trade.

What a great reminder that we have to guard the critical points of entry into our lives.

We’re Bound for the Promised Land

At last, we’re heading up from the south!

When Moses and the Hebrew children headed toward Canaan, they headed around to the east of the Jordan River and entered across from Jericho. We’re taking a more direct route.

One of our stops today included the amazing Makhtesh Ramon. In fact, the Hebrew term makhtesh means, “mortar,” like a “bowl.” For that reason, some call the Makhtesh Ramon the “Super Bowl” of Israel.

I have to agree.
